/ golden gate \

i am very proud to say {especially being a true san francisco native} that on may 27, 1937, san francisco's golden gate bridge opened. it connected bustling san francisco to sleepy marin county to the north. it straddles the golden gate strait, the passage from the pacific ocean into the san francisco bay, where rough currents prevail and winds can reach 70 mph.

this true beauty and gorgeous architectural landmark holds so many of my memories. weather i was actually crossing it in a car, walking the span, or just gazing at it from a distance it really does make my heart skip a beat.

what a beautiful site it is to see.

happy birthday goldie.

oh wait, there is a disclaimer in the background and it's saying ...

"babe it's just a rough cut - it still needs sound effects, color correction, and subtitles"

dear mama

one of the most important things my mom taught me over the years was that if you have faith, you have hope, and when you have hope you always see a way. when you see a way, you never give up. only you, yourself can determine your own direction, and if you trust your own compass, you will always remain on your path.

thank you for choosing me mom and always steering me in the right direction - i love you with all my heart and soul.

with all the respect in the world,

kelly

that is my mama on the left, in case you couldn't tell.

daydreaming

Today I just want to sit somewhere quietly and read poetry.

I want to revel in absurd ideas about the universe and allow my mind to be a playground where anything can happen.

I want to forget about all those things that “need doing” for a time, and “put my ear down next to my soul” and listen to what it really wants.

I want to build something that has no function, except to turn up the corner of someone’s mouth when they least expect it.

I want to forget about all of the things in the future that seem scary or unmanageable, and just dip my toes into the infraordinary.

I want to pretend the world is full of secret hiding places that no one else can see except me.

I want to create a map of magical places and send people to them.

I want to watch the trees for signs and see what they say to me when no one else is listening.

Today I want to be an animal and run wildly in and out of the woods, stopping only to take a drink and the occasional nap.

beautiful poem i refound.

the sphinx and the milkyway

i very thankfully live next door to this super.duper.magic.maker named lauren who just ooozes talent and grace; i don't even know where to start.

well, i gotta start somewhere so how about you take a short gaze upwards at my jazzy new blog header for 'viva voce' - isn't she a beaut?! that's just a tiny taste of lauren's skills.

below are a few pictures which exemplify her enormous capabilities. i know, it's really outrageous.

oh, also lauren's gorgeous apartment was just featured on design sponge - you shoud drop by and check it out, it's a real treat.

if you'd like to have one of her special works in your home, visit her etsy shop: spencer studio to check out the collection.

thank you lauren

wythe

out on the williamsburg waterfront there newly stands a beautiful red brick structure called the wythe hotel. at the tippy-top is a glass cube open air bar for those sultry nyc nights.

walls of windows and floors of poured concrete.

reynards - the beautiful restaurant - has an open air kitchen and wood fired oven & grill.

of course all of this is birthed by the one and only andrew tarlow via marlow & sons, roman's & diner.

fire in the sky

i was looking through my many random photos and stumbled upon these shots i took in santa barabara awhile back. i was walking the wilcox property with ken, kyra, and bobby just before sunset and boy was it breathtaking. the moment seemed to last forever and took on so many different shapes, forms and colors.

all i could think the entire time is, how can nature embody this much beauty, it's really just almost too much to handle - don't you think.

flower face

i just want to say thank you to the flowers, they play such a huge role in my happiness.

i promise my adoration will never fade.

“life is not easy for any of us. but what of that? we must have perseverance and, above all, confidence in ourselves. we must believe that we are gifted for something and that this thing must be attained.”

the journey of a leaf

my firend's sabrina and spencer are gettin' hitched in a very intimate and gorgeous setting in carmel, and i'm helping out with all the details along the way.

first task to check off the list, invites. it was a mini labor of love between the three of us and i think it turned out pretty sweet. very stylistic, refined, but most of all simple.

production mode ... (also a little stencil i did of bruce lee many moons ago on my cutting mat)

i get to gaze out into the jungle in my workspace!

the final product with the kraft envelope and flushed out fonts.

at an angle so you can appreciate the silhouette.
